Horse of the Year Awards a Galloping Success
Once a year the thoroughbred racing industry stops and takes a moment to honour and celebrate the best of the best. The New Zealand Thoroughbred Horse of the Year Awards are the most eagerly-anticipated society event for the industry, with the guest-list including New Zealand’s leading breeders, trainers, owners and jockeys. HDAV was commissioned to design a show for the 2018 Awards, ensuring it was a night to be remembered.
Bespoke Show Design a Hit!
We designed a bespoke show using a large LED screen and lighting and audio systems for the event. The chosen room at the Ellerslie Convention Centre is notoriously difficult, and presented some challenges. With some clever thinking, these were overcome.
We worked closely with the client to make sure all guests could clearly see and hear what was being presented on the screens. In addition, we provided CAD drawings and included extra equipment to make sure we had optimised the viewing for all guests.

State-of-the-art high-resolution 18m x 2.5m Main LED Screen
Multiple video layers within the main screen
Projection screens with Panasonic 10,000 lumen laser projectors
Large HD TVs around room for optimal viewing
Barco E2 Screen management for all video systems
Over 60 moving and static lighting fixtures installed
Over 800m of Fibre cabling to distribute HD signal to all video
